User Guide
Customers can use Akiltel from mobile or landline numbers, and from any computer or smartphone that has internet access.
Akiltel can be used from phones in all countries: In countries where we have call-through service numbers, customers can call these numbers locally from their mobile or fixed lines and can make their international calls by using their Akiltel account or calling card. Customers can also use our callback service in all countries. Callback service can also be used in countries where Akiltel has local service numbers.
In some cases, even when we have local service numbers in specific country, using callback service may still be preferred. Especially when customers have prepaid SIM cards (with little credit), or when calling a local number in the country is more expensive than Akiltel calling back customers phone.
It is possible to use Akiltel with pinless access with registered phones. The call from a registered phone must send its number (CLI) during the call so that Akiltel can detect the number for identification.
Numbers that will use callback must always be registered and the phones should send its number. You can contact our call centre for assistance, or authorized caller ids can be added via customer portal.
Akiltel’s local access numbers could be used from any phone. In case used phone is not registered as authorized, then customer should enter his PIN.
Akiltel also offers a bulk SMS service. You can prepare your SMS messages beforehand and schedule for transmission on a predefined time.
Akiltel works with a licensed SMS service provider in Turkey. It is possible to send SMS to Turkish GSM numbers; however, the sender id must be authorized beforehand. Please call our call centers for details.
Please make sure you do not try to use Akiltel service with a SIM card in roaming status. A SIM card in roaming area will always be charged with roaming rates. The only exception to this is use of EU registered SIM cards in other EU countries because there is a regulatory upper limit for per minute charges within the EU for calling home country and for being called in another EU country.
General Rules
Akiltel is a VOIP based service and it does not have a base country in terms of number dialing rules. Customers do always need to dial country code of the called numbers. Normally, the 0 in front of city (trunk) codes should not be dialed. Customers may add 00 in front of a number or may just type the number starting with country code. For example, if you will call Ankara Turkey number 0312 1234567 then you may use the following options:
Correct combinations: 0090 312 1234567, or 90 312 1234567.
Wrong combinations: 0090 0312 1234567 (0 before area code), 0312 1234567 (country code missing).
When using Akiltel phone services, you must dial # key to terminate your PIN code and also to end the number you dial. Forgetting to press # sign may result in not being able to use the system.
We do not advise our customers to use our services with a SIM card that is in a roaming area (i.e. in another country). You will always pay roaming charges to your own operator if you use your mobile phone abroad.
The best option is to buy a local SIM card in the visited country and use that card to eliminate roaming charges.
Due to regulatory roaming charges within EU, use of an EU member country SIM card in another EU country could be considered, but there are still some extra roaming charges.
Akiltel Command Numbers
The following command numbers can be used to perform certain tasks within Akiltel system while using Akiltel with phone. Commands can be used from fixed line and mobile phones, provided the phone/network used supports DTMF signaling. Topping up your account with a phone
You can add the balance on another calling card or a recharge card to your account by using the special command number 11115#. You can also transfer the remaining credit on your other Akilte c accounts.
How it works:
- Call a service number of Akiltel (in case the phone is not defined for pinless access you will have to enter your pin).
- Dial 11115# when you are asked to dial a number.
- enter the pin number of the card or account whose balance will be transferred to your account.
Dialing with short codes (Speed Dial)
Akıltel customers can define short codes for the numbers they dial frequently or for difficult to remember numbers.
For example, if a customer defines short code 20 for number 00 90 299 8887766, then he can call this number by just dialing 20#.
Customers can define short codes by logging to their accounts on customer portal and going to the page “Speed Dial”. Customers can also ask help from our call centers.
How to use Callback Method
Customers can use callback method only when their phone number is registered in the system for pinless calling. Also, the phone should send its number when callback trigger number is called, so that Akiltel system can recognize the customer who wants to make a callback call.
Akiltel callback trigger numbers always reject the call just after detecting the calling number. For this reason, calls to callback trigger numbers are free.
To initiate a callback call, customers should call one of our callback trigger numbers . Akiltel system will call you back in a few seconds and you will hear the instructions on how to make a call.
You can associate your telephone number with your account using the ‘Authorized Caller IDs’ option. By calling one of our service numbers and if necessary validate your card with your pin/password, and then dialing special command number 11113#.
You can of course ask help from one our call centers.
Using call-through Service Numbers
You can use Akiltel service numbers in about 30 countries to make calls with your landline or mobile phones.
In case your number defined for pinless calling, then you can call the service numbers without needing to enter your pin each time. If number is not defined for pinless calling or if the phone is not sending its number, then you will need to enter pin/password eachtime.
It is necessary to key # sign both after keying the pin/password and after entering the number you want to call.
Our customers can store the sequence of service number, pin and number-to-dial in their phone address book by allowing enough waiting time between these numbers. Every mobile phone has a way to represent the waiting time (which is usually a p sign on the screen), and if enough waiting time is given between the numbers are sent by the phone, then using service numbers will be very easy.
The waiting signal (p) is created by the following sequences. Please refer to your phones user guide for the correct way to create the p signal.
- Nokia: press * 3 times
- Samsung: Press hold *
- LG: press hold #
- Sony: Press hold *
- iPhone: press “+*#” and then choose “pause”
- Blackberry: N or L depending on model. Please look at user instructions
- Android: “p” or “,”. Please look at the phone instructions
- Windows Mobile: where p should come, press menu and then “enter pause”
